We have 28 fandom nominations still to sort. (AO3-savvy users will note that that means we're no longer seeing a random display - instead we can view all remaining unapproved fandoms.)

Debí Tirar Más Fotos - Bad Bunny (Album) - Nominator, did you intend the visual album or the short film? The nomination of Señor suggests the latter, but Bad Bunny doesn’t appear as a character. Golden Hour pt 2 - ATEEZ (Album) and Golden Hour pt 3 : In Your Fantasy - ATEEZ (Album) - Both of these are nominated and so are the music videos for Ice On Your Teeth, Lemon Drop, and In Your Fantasy, which are songs on these albums. We're willing to approve music videos that can stand alone with clear and coherent fictional elements to build on, but it's not clear how the albums are distinct from ineligible lore or how they stand on their own, especially if the music videos also stand on their own. october...can we believe

an update in which i talk a lot

came back from my two weeks of housesitting + quasi business sitting + misc babysitting + what turned into only one actual day of dogsitting! what an eventful time folks.

i ended up needing to run tests for two families that were supposed to test while cousinboss was still in town but one of the testing websites was having such bad technical issues they shut down the rest of the week. the first family i tested the next monday went very smoothly and then the second family tested on wednesday and the testing website went back down for three hours. lol. they were good sports about it i was talking to them a lot on the phone ofc while waiting for updates and the dad said 'it's not your fault' and i was like omg. :') yes. thank you. <3

in between those work days i successfully completed babysitting shift #1 with niece. she did not cry but she would look around every once in a while while we were playing and say '.....mama?' jsnfksjdnfsk so cute and she was doing this bit where she sniffed each of her blueberries very hard before eating them. my cousin and her family ended up coming to stay with me at her mom's house because they were having plumbing issues and...lord. i love niece and nephew but being with them and helping watch for two days straight was Exhausting. it was fun having a big sleepover though! babysitting shift #2 was mostly uneventful as niece was taking her nap so i just got some work done. i did quality checks on 200 test books and did repairs!! that was my goal so i'm very pleased! there are maybe only...400 more books to check now so i was glad i could take Some of them off cousinbossHusband's plate. i realize these pseudonyms are probably not helpful skjdfnksjd

while i was housesitting i finished Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher which i found very enjoyable! i liked the take on magic and the fae and i love a fairy tale reworking. i'm reading The House at Riverton by Kate Morton now, rec'd by my younger cousin. i'm not usually one for historical fiction so i've been surprised by how much i'm liking it! once i finished this book i'll have read a book recommended by each of the women in their family this year which i think is Neat!

i also did a lot of tv/movie watching during test book checking and also bc the internet connection is spotty there. i've been watching The Twilight Zone at a leisurely pace and picked my The X-Files rewatch back up. i watched Predator 2 which is not only of of the worst movies i've ever seen but one of the worst movies ever made in general. the main character called the Predator 'pussyface' after seeing it without it's helmet on.... MOVING ON. watched Twisters with cousin and cousinHusband while they were staying with me. i haven't seen the original but this one was fun! Rock-a-Doodle and The Pebble and the Penguin were both book checking watches. i'd never seen them before and they were leaving tubi at the end of the month so i thought i'd give them a try. i think because they'd been talking about don bluth in a Secret Sleepover Society stream i'd watched recently??

had to reschedule both my dentist appointment and my appointment with my insurance agent because of an incredibly timed endo flare up. <3 YAY. i even made my dad come pick me up so i could stay at my place for the night bc my room has a microwave for heating pad convenience. my symptoms have been getting worse and almost daily now which is...disheartening is the word i guess i will go with lol. my symptoms started coming back at the beginning of this year so i guess i got about two years pain-free from my surgery let's not get into the implications of what that means for the rest of my life! unfortunately this is stressing me out about the job search especially bc there aren't really any office jobs hiring right now idk if it's the season or what but god i Really need a job where you're allowed to sit down!!

in happier news i finally got some tea from a company i've been wanting to try out forever! i got two past Fabled Foliage blends from Many Worlds Tavern! 50% off...incredible for me. anyway the Fabled Foliage blends are from their monthly subscription and they create a setting for ttrpg setting based off the tea blend (they also have a coffee subscription) and you get the tea, a sticker, a spell card, access to some other items based on the setting, and a set of custom dice.

also!! Awesomely Awful the youtube channel i promo'd in my last update is doing an actual play ttrpg series this month called We Fixed Twilight and the first episode came out today. it was so so funny the premise is, as you might have guessed, redo-ing and fixing Twilight skdjnfksjdfns the hosts Sean Coyle and Waleed Mansour take the roles of DM and Jacob and joining them are: Kylie Brakeman as Bella, Patrick McDonald as Edward, and Rashawn Scott as new character Frankie Stein!!

there's one more fandomgiftbasket gift i want to do and then i really need to do more April Drift fills but ALSO i kind of want to do the halloween event but i think maybe just open to my dw circle??? we'll see!!

Nominations Guidelines - Fall 2025

Nominations are now open for the Fall 2025 round of Seasons of Drabbles! Nominations will remain open until signups close on Sunday, October 19. Note we are reusing the tagset from last round, so please check if what you're nominating is already in the tagset before submitting them.

Important Reminders

All character nominations should be disambiguated, for example: Steve Rogers (Captain America (Movies)). Not doing this slows the approval process significantly, so please disambiguate! Characters may be nominated in any/every fandom in which they appear.

We will not approve broad writer's-choice character nominations (e.g., "Creator's Choice of Demon" or "Any Star Trek Captain"). This is because it requires the mods to have fandom-specific knowledge when checking that gifts are for a requested character during approvals. Instead, please nominate specific characters.

For example, we would not approve "Creator's Choice of Jedi" under Star Wars because it'd require the mods to know/find out which individual characters in a gift are Jedi or not. Instead, we'd ask you to nominate specific Jedi characters. The only fandoms where such broad nominations are permitted are the "Creator's Choice" fandoms (e.g., "Female Character"), since by their nature, character nominations cannot be specific.

General Guidelines

You may nominate up to 10 fandoms with up to 10 characters each.

Both umbrella fandoms and sub-fandoms are allowed. For instance, you may nominate under Marvel Cinematic Universe or Star Wars - All Media Types. You may also nominate under sub-fandoms such as Thor (Movies) or Star Wars Original Trilogy.

Please remember that if you request Any for an umbrella fandom, you will be requesting any character who appears in any of the fandoms below the umbrella - NOT just characters in the tagset. So if you plan to request Any, you may want to request under a specific sub-fandom rather than the umbrella.

RPF is allowed. Nominated RPF characters must be famous in their own right, and must be 18+ for modern RPF.

Crossovers are allowed. Crossover fandoms should be nominated as Fandom A/Fandom B. Character nominations for crossovers should be nominated as Character's Name (Fandom A/Fandom B). For example, if nominating Luke Skywalker for a Narnia/Star Wars crossover, the fandom would be nominated as Chronicles of Narnia/Star Wars, while the character would be nominated as Luke Skywalker (Narnia/Star Wars).

Recursive fandoms are allowed. The required format is Recursive: Fic/Series title - Creator. Recursive fandoms may be nominated under two circumstances: 1. the creator has posted a blanket permission statement, 2. you are the creator. In either case, please contact us when nominating so that we have the pertinent permissions. Characters nominated under recursive fandoms should be disambiguated with the title of the recursive fandom.

Since we will be re-using the tagset all year, recursive fandoms will be removed on an as-needed basis between rounds (only if a blanket permission statement comes down, or the creator asks for it to be removed).

Original Works are allowed. When nominating characters, please disambiguate with (Original Work). If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination. An example nomination: Original Nonbinary Character (Original Work)

Original characters may also be nominated in existing fandoms. When nominating an original character within an existing fandom, please disambiguate with the name of the fandom. If an original character's gender is important to you, please specify it in your nomination. An example nomination: Original Anbu Character (Naruto)

Objects/concepts/etc. may be nominated in the character slot for any canon in which they appear. For Original Works, you can make some up if you would like. Some example nominations: Cursed Hat (What We Do in the Shadows (TV)), Magic Mirror (Original Work)

Here, "drabble" does not just mean a short fic, but a specific wordcount. In addition to single drabbles (fics of exactly 100 words), we accept double drabbles (200 words) and triple drabbles (300 words). We also accept drabble series/sequences.

* I went to the Ostio. We are proceeding with hip physio as expected. Bonus, he did a steroid injection in my right hip joint. I had steroid injections to the hip joints more than 15 years ago. They got rid of the ground glass sensation and rolled back the pain several years. This one is already a noticeable improvement. I'm to go back for the left in a month or two.

In other news, when I tried to log on to Firefox Tuesday night everything was gone. As usual the restore previous session option was greyed out. I absolutely don't have time or energy to try to hand restore it all today or really at any time this month. Still I guess it's now on my Wednesday night's to do list. So much work has been lost, and I won't be able to get much of it back.

Plus someone I care about very much is dying and the grief keeps hitting me in waves. I don't really want to talk about it. I'm talking with him and other people who know him. I'm just explaining that a lot of my energy is going into that right now.

This fucking year.

* Wednesday, I managed to break down the living room airconditioner. It's a whole drama as everything needs to be cleaned, drained, etc.. and the metal piece that goes in the window broke early in HoA Bedroom Attack Crisis. I did my best with the good duct tape. (NOTE to self. Need more Duct tape.) These uses a lot of spoons and also involved a closet reorganization as it gets stored right in front of where the water filter is now. It's short enough to not interfere with filter access at all, but a bunch of things had ended up in the hole the air conditioner fits in so I had to pull them out and deal with the TV trays endlessly falling off their rack and make everything fit back in around the unit. At least the air conditioner has little wheels under it, but I still have to manhandle over even small obstacles and I take it out on the patio to drain.

We mostly talked linguistics over dinner.

All night, everytime I got up, I did small prep things for fish reorganization. At least it's something.

I've started try to deal with the waterfox crash, but it's going to be a slog.

* Lenovo Laptop is broken again.

Just before bed Tursday morning, the connectivity went out just on the problematic Lenovo Lemon. The one I need to do all the aggregate things because it has enough memory to do it. Squirrel's laptop and the second hand refurbished connect just fine.

I can't do the aggregate if I don't find a solution. All the prep is over there.

I tried the usual things: reboots, checking connectivity. Coming back more than twelve hours later in case it is a temporary glitch. The computer claims it's connected, but it isn't. Disconning wifi and reconnecting it. Troubleshooting tool (It has never once worked for me in 30 years). Following a complicated set of directions written for someone else with the same trouble. Running an antivirus scan.

I spent two - three hours deleting things. I'll probably keep picking at that.

I'm out of ideas.

Does anyone know how to connect a Lenovo to the Internet after it breaks like this? Is there a trick to getting the web browser to talk to the part that says the wifi is working?

Update: follow Klab's instructions to reset, but be warned this will require an account re-link or for you to contact customer support to get your account back. If you're getting the verification failed error, it seems to be an issue with it connecting to an internal port (at least for me) and was consistent with both times I tried to do this. Doing so with safe mode with networking worked for some people; for me I just left the program open + the browser where I was logged into my Klab ID, and it just worked eventually (when the port wasn't busy, I assume)

They thought it would grind textiles production in the UK to a halt and force the UK to come in on their side of the war.

What happened instead was Egyptian cotton.

Trump pulled his bullshit thinking China would bow to him over soybeans; what happened instead was Brazil and Argentina. They haven’t bought a single goddamn US soybean since last spring, as South America ramped production right the fuck up.

Soybeans were the US’s largest agricultural export.

Fic In A Box has a very unusual set of assignment requirements: everyone is owed (and is asking for) 10k of fanfiction, which by default can be given as one 10k+ fic or several 1k+ fics. Participants have also had the option to opt-in to other minimum lengths or to other formats of fanwork. * The Flu and COVID Boosters finally arrived here end of last week. Monday was the first shot day at the Poverty Clinic, so I went down to grab them because fuck knows what the Anti-vaxxer committee will outlaw tomorrow. Pharmacy lady giving shots: Yeah, my supervisor suggested we all get ours now just in case.

* Tuesday I actually remembered to turn up at the right time for new building key distribution for the Complex. I gave my apartment number and the guy was like: I know who you are! I've seen you going in and out of your apartment. Look, I was wearing my mask, but apparently he picked up on my surprise and alarm from what he could see of my expression. Him: Don't worry! I'm not stalking you! I like to look in when I walk my dog past your windows! Me: O.o Me, scrambling for a response to a HoA Board member saying that, and coming up with nothing/: My cats do like watching the dog walkers.

Was it the ideal response? No, but also, I want to keep my garden and Halloween decorations. In his defense, he seemed socially inept and well meaning, not scary, but I just… had zero social scripts for this situation. I'm not entirely sure he was trying and not succeeding at either initiating friendship and/or flirting. O.o

This Covid Booster is a lot easier than the last one. I can't tell if the Wednesday itch and low grade fever are it or the influenza jab as flu shoots generally cause those. Same with the extra tired, though it's way better than either last year. The mildly extra lung gunk is probably the COVID booster. Either way, aces. I feel a lot safer having them on board.

Wednesday I was awakened at 9:02AM by a man needing to know which patio was mine so he could clean my vents. I had no idea any vent cleaning was occurring as it wasn't in any communication from HoA or City Contractors. I directed him anyway. He's like: I need you to move all these plants.

I didn't know they were coming. I didn't know I needed to have levitated the big plant shelving with the heavy large long beds including the spearmint which is too high and heavy for me.

He said he'd contact his supervisor and reschedule.

I just spent two weeks exhausting myself rearranging the entire garden for the HoA. Now this. Where the fuck can I even move these things? How the fuck can I move these things? I suppose if they tell me which day they are coming I can get Squirrel to help me carry the beds inside for the night, but we don't really have room for this. Or Spoons. And where am I to put the shelving itself? Also, odds are this will really fuck up the spearmint which grows up through the shelf, and yeah it's end of season but spearmint is perennial. IDK. I keep hoping it's some sort of mistake, but they had my address and phone number.

* I am back to the picking away at the apartment after the Great HoA Bedroom Invasion. I put some things away Thursday on a high shelf, which is exhausting. Moved some boxes to my room for yet more starting. I am starting to really worry about the missing book box even though I know it surely must be somewhere. Friday, I did more sorting, put away forage, and changed the highest volume litter.

* I've been doing a lot of that painful precarious standing to do fiddly things with my arms up on high shelves. It is more tiring than it sounds. Pick pick pick. Next up: fish storage reorganization and resorted boxes from my room. The fish stuff is more urgent because of inspection coming up. It also involves a lot of crawling around on the floor.

Now they had to quarantine for most of a week because of a dangerous exposure at work.
